At Brief, your privacy is a core commitment — not an afterthought. We understand how sensitive meeting content is. When you use Brief to record, transcribe, and analyze your meetings, we handle your data with the utmost care so you remain in control at all times. 1. Information We Collect Account Information When you create a Brief account, we collect your name and email address. This is used to create and maintain your account, sync your data across devices, and send you important service updates. Audio & Meeting Data Audio Recordings: When you record a meeting, the audio is uploaded to our servers for transcription processing. Recordings are stored until you delete them. Transcriptions & AI Summaries: The text generated from your meetings — including decisions and action items — is stored on our servers so you can access it across all your devices. Subscription & Purchase Data If you upgrade to Brief Premium, purchases are processed through the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. We collect transactional data to manage your subscription status. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google — we do not store your payment card information. Usage Data We collect anonymized data on how you interact with the app — features used, session frequency, and navigation patterns. This helps us understand how Brief is being used and improve the product. Individual identities are never exposed in this analysis. 2. Our Technology Partners To deliver Brief's services, we work with the following trusted third-party providers. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service. Supabase — Secure cloud database and file storage (PostgreSQL). Your account data, transcriptions, and audio files are stored here. AssemblyAI — Your audio recordings are sent to AssemblyAI's servers for speech-to-text transcription. Audio is processed temporarily and not retained beyond this purpose. OpenAI— Transcriptions are sent to OpenAI to extract decisions and action items. No personally identifying information is shared. RevenueCat — Manages subscription status and entitlements across iOS and Android. PostHog — Privacy-focused product analytics. All data is anonymized. OneSignal — Push notifications and in-app messages for engagement and service updates. Resend — Transactional email delivery (e.g., account notifications, meeting summaries sent by email). Sentry — Crash reporting and error tracking to maintain app stability. No meeting content is included in error reports. 4. Data Sharing We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data is shared only with the technology partners listed above, strictly to provide Brief's services. We never share your meeting content with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. 5. Data Retention & Deletion Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active Brief account. When you delete a recording, transcription, or your entire account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers and all partner services. This deletion is irreversible. Server logs are retained for up to 14 days for diagnostics, then automatically purged. 6. Audio Data & AI Processing Notice Brief processes audio recordings using third-party AI services (AssemblyAI and OpenAI) whose servers are located in the United States. By using Brief, you acknowledge that your audio and transcription data may be transferred to and processed in the United States in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We ensure all transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards. 9. Children's Privacy Brief is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us immediately. 10. Updates to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
